Summer Matsuri


Yesterday was the first time since we have been here that we have gone sight seeing in Nagoya. We went with a group of the teachers from NICS to the Nagoya castle to enjoy the summer matsuri (or festival). We had a lot of fun! There was so much to see!! The whole castle was covered in lanterns. It was beautiful! They had several stages set up with live music and dancing. There was also little boths set up for children to play games and win prizes like a carnival in the States. Many of the Japanese people were dressed in their beautiful summer kimonos. And there were many stattions set up with various Japanese food. My favorite station was the shaved ice station. It was very refreshing on a hot, humid summer day. It was a very fun evening and we enjoyed spending it with the rest of the staff from NICS.
